Operation Christmas Child

 

Operation Christmas Child Drive runs through November 12th. You can pick up a shoe box at the church and fill it with these suggested items:


*TOYS
Small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch A Sketch®, Slinky®, etc.


*SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.


*HYGIENE ITEMS
Tooth brush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.


*OTHER
Hard candy and lollipops (please double bag all candy), mints, gum, T-shirts, socks, ball caps; sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches


**A PERSONAL NOTE
In a separate envelope, you may choose to enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself and/or family. If you include your name and address, the child may write back.


***Do Not Include:
Used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.


You do not want to fill a shoebox? Consider one of these ways to support the drive. You can drop off donated items to the church or give a monetary donation. It costs $7 to send a box overseas. Your monetary donations can be dropped off at the church office or placed in the offering plate marked - ‘Operation Christmas Child’


Zion also supports these community organizations Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse (CASDA), Harbor House Crisis Shelter (Harbor House), Faith United Methodist Church- Community Dinners, and the local Food Shelf.
