Zion Lutheran Wisconsin

Welcome Visitors

“Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

This is one of the most common greetings in the Bible. In it the greeter wishes the undeserved love (grace) of Jesus and the peace of mind, body and soul, that only comes through a relationship with our triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), upon the one being welcomed. We at Zion Lutheran Church truly want this for each person who comes among us, either on this web page or in our presence at church. We want you to join us in worship and celebration of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We want to share the love and hope we have found in Him here in our community.

Zion Lutheran Church is a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). One of the big beliefs of the ELCA is that all God’s people are welcome. So when we invite you to come join us, we mean completely. Attend our worship, sing in our choir, play in our band, join us in the Lord’s Supper (Communion), fellowship with us over a cup of coffee or juice, join an adult Bible study, pray with us, bring your children to Sunday School, and role up your sleeves and join us in our mission of service in the name of Jesus Christ.

It is not our goal to bring people to Zion Lutheran from other churches. If you have a church that meets your individual needs and those of your family’s, we urge you to attend there regularly and celebrate and strengthen your relationship with God there. But if you are looking for a church where you can be yourself and meet God where you are, please join us.

Our Church Community
Each Sunday our congregation meets for worship and Sunday School. Our Fellowship Hall and Sunday School rooms are filled with singing and learning about Jesus. Our Sunday School has programs for ages 3 through 5th grade. On Wednesday our confirmation program, Logos, provides instruction to our 6th through 10th grade youth as they prepare themselves to affirm the baptismal promises. Each year our 3rd graders learn about Holy Communion in preparation for their First Communion which takes place on Maundy Thursday, in the spring. As you see, there is something for everyone to learn and do at Zion Lutheran.

Our music program is second to none. We have an outstanding Choir that sings all sorts of traditional and contemporary choir music. New Day, our praise band, with its drums and guitars, provides a more contemporary musical experience sure to get your foot tapping and your shoulders swaying. Individuals also provide special music for our worship services with solos, small groups and special readings.

Zion Lutheran’s youth program includes activities at the church and service events where we have a great time doing stuff for others. Each year our youth are encouraged to attend Bible Camp programs as well.

Our children have a fantastic time at Vacation Bible School (VBS) which is held right here at Zion Lutheran the first week of August. It’s a time of learning, singing, doing crafts and having great fun together. It takes a lot of help to put VBS together so everyone pitches in. Adults do the main teaching but our Jr. and Sr. High young folks help out and everyone, old and young, has a great time.

The Zion Lutheran Church Women’s group or Women of the ELCA (WELCA) is one of our most active ministries. They are regularly busy providing lunches for grieving families at funerals and sewing quilts that help people all around the world as well as those in need in right here in Superior and Douglas County. They also put together school kits, health kits, sewing kits, and midwife kits that are given to and distributed world wide by Lutheran World Relief. They also participate in Operation Christmas Child, collect medical supplies for our neighbors in Malawi, East Africa and produce things needed for the victims of the disaster relief here in the US. In their "spare time" they are busy making Pasties, Cookies, Sub Sandwiches and other goodies to help support their ministry.

You're Invited
We want you to feel comfortable to simply come and be with us. There is no pressure to join Zion Lutheran, but simply come and see if this is the place that you’ve been looking for to explore your faith and invest your energy in God’s name.

It's exciting when one looks at the ministries that are made possible through Zion Lutheran Church. Together we can experience spiritual growth and exciting ministry. As long as we are faithful to our Lord's guidance for us as His church in this place, we will continue to grow and prosper. Matthew 6:33 reminds us to "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you as well."

Our Mission: “Gathering together, growing in faith, and going into the world in Jesus name!”
