WELCA Super Bowl Sub Sandwich Sale
Every February, WELCA, the women’s ministry organization of the ELCA, holds a fundraiser with an Annual Super Bowl Sub Sandwich Sale. Each sub sandwich is made fresh on a hoagie bun topped with mayo, ham, turkey, salami, lettuce, tomato, onions (or no onions), and American and mozzarella cheese slices. They will be available for pick up on Saturday morning or following worship on Sunday, the second weekend in February. Sub sandwiches are $7.00 each. The last day to place your order is the Sunday prior. All proceeds benefit the Zion Women’s Group ministries.
Hearts in Harmony
Around Valentine’s Day the church organizes Hearts in Harmony, a free will offering concert, with many musicians and performers, to benefit the Zion Lutheran Food Shelf. The concert is followed by a dessert social.
Pasty Sales
Zion Lutheran’s claim to fame is our famous pasties filled with carrots, potatoes, onion, celery and ground chuck from Superior Meats. Take our word for it–you don’t want to miss out on stocking the freezer with these for quick and delicious meals.
Price is $6.00/pasty. We bake twice each year, in the spring and fall. The proceeds from the pasty sales are used to fund church ministries and missions.
Volunteer Thank you Dinner
Volunteers are essential to the everyday success of Zion Lutheran. Each spring we host either a dinner or dessert event to say thank you to everyone that volunteers their time and talents, financial support, or tithing.
Juneteenth
On June 19 America celebrates Juneteenth, or Freedom Day, on the anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation that abolished slavery in Texas and other former Confederate states in 1865. Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States. This event, led by the Stewardship Committee, offers food, fellowship with neighbors, and conversation on what is Junettenth. All are welcome.
National Night Out
NNO is celebrated on the first Tuesday in August, and is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live and work. Another summer event that Zion Lutheran holds for our community and neighborhood with food, fun and games, police and fire departments, also supported by wonderful donors.
